About Galway Model Flying Club
A tight-knit community of hobbyists, builders, and competitive flyers based just outside Galway City.
Over 15 Years of Flight
GMFC started as a small group of local radio-control pioneers exploring open sites and fields in Galway. Over the last 15+ years, we have grown into a fully structured, safe, and organized flying club, securing and maintaining our dedicated private field.
On any dry and relatively calm day, you’ll find a crowd of us gathered around the hangar area, flying, comparing builds, and adjusting motors. Galway may not give us dry weather daily, but we make the absolute best of every beautiful flying window!
What We Fly
Our runway and airspace accommodate different pilot preferences, spanning electric, turbine, and multiquads.
Electric & Gliders
Excellent starting models. Clean, reliable, quiet, and easily handled by newcomers. Safe high-wing trainers are always present.
Nitro & Gas Engines
For pilots who love mechanical engine roars, fuel mixing, and scale high-altitude flying. Expert tuning advice is highly active.
Drones & FPV
Custom multirotors built for FPV video capture or high speed racing. All drone flying matches modern IAA drone operator codes.
Airfield Gate Lock Policy
To maintain site security and safe runway integrity, our entry gate is kept locked when members are not actively present on the tarmac. To prevent getting locked out, contact Ron or Paul via our Form so we can coordinate and welcome you at the gate.
