Join Galway Model Flying Club

We welcome new flyers of all age groups and skill levels. Below is everything you need to know about joining.

MACI National Body Fee

Goes to the Model Aeronautics Council of Ireland. This provides robust site-wide third-party flight insurance, essential for all model aviators.

€120

GMFC Field Maintenance Fee

Retained locally by the club to pay for private field lease rent, regular grass mowing and taxiway maintenance.

Full Annual Membership

€200 / year

Allows unlimited access to the Galway flying grounds on any flyable day, training buddy-box systems, free nitro tuning, safety certifications, and regular club meetings.

No! We strongly recommend newcomers do not purchase expensive models before consulting with us. Many beginner planes bought online are too fragile or overly sensitive. We have specialized buddy-box training planes and computer flight simulators on-site to help you learn the basics before investing.
The gate leading to the Galway Model Flying Club grounds is systematically locked when no members are present at the runway. If you want to check out the club, please use our contact page form in advance. We will arrange to meet you at the lock gate and give you an introductory tour.
